Yes, Virginia, there is a Paris!

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xOQP9SaNM5U/STsjwLnmCpI/AAAAAAAAAq8/95boJx_fMxs/s400/parisrea.jpg
True confessions: I watch the Antiques Roadshow.

Let me explain. I got hooked on the original British version when I lived in London.

You know, all the wildly popular shows originate in the UK (i.e. The Office, Top Gear, Pop Idol-known here as American Idol, etc.). But I digress.
Well, this week on Antique Roadshow, a great-grandson brought a letter written in 1897 by his great-grandmother, at the time a young girl named Virginia, to the editor of The Sun asking if there is a Santa.  And we all know the answer,
"Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus."

I felt like young Virginia must have when I learned that there really is a place called Paris.

 C'est magnifique, n'est ce pas?

So, in anticipation of the first annual Tina + Rebecca Paris shopping trip with our intrepid guide, Olivia Nash of Nash Travel Management, I got to wondering,
"What do French women want for Christmas?"

Perfume.

I bought this perfume, YSL Paris, on the Rue de Rivoli when I was 15 years old - still have the flask.  The scent will always take me back to that Christmas spent there with my family.

Hermes.
(Pronounced heir-MEHZ)

Want a Kelly?  Line up - they start at $7,000 and there's always a waiting list.

Chanel.  Anything at all will do.  But I really like this coat.

I'd like that LBD, too.  S'il vous plait.

A Pedicure. And a French Maid. Profiteroles wouldn't hurt.
A Standard Poodle.  Tres Par-ee.

And last but not least, Le Scarf.

Le foulard.  Chic, non?
Now this is not my first trip to the rodeo - pardonnez-moi - I mean, to Grand Par-ee, but it will be different.  We are so very excited about the ladies going, and we will be sure and send you photos of our looting the city!  Hmmm, I wonder, should I bring my white cowboy boots to Paris? On second thought, better not actually look like the native Nashvillian I am.  Again, I digress.

We also have lovely Gift Certificates for our wardrobe svcs. that make a great present for the holidays.  Please contact us today.
All the best,

Holiday Dressing 101: In Praise of Dressing for the Holidays

With all the hub-bub of social gatherings, family events, school functions, volunteer obligations, etc., taking time to get dressed during the holiday season can be highly daunting. Can it not?  We can hear you doubting with your fellow T + R subscribers, "Can I really wear the same LBD to every single event?"  To which we sing out in a chorus of hallelujahs, "Why, yes, as a matter of fact, you can!"

Conspicuous consumption involving a new outfit for each event is just not cool anymore, or a reality for most people.

So here's your GUIDE to HOLIDAY STYLE (no matter the occasion).

Take one black sheath & accessorize it 4 different ways for 4 different events:

COCKTAIL PARTY:
add a sparkly jacket, a metallic heel, and pearls.

 THANKSGIVING DINNER:
add a fitted leather jacket, a knee boot or animal print heel, and funky gold jewelry.

 VOLUNTEERING for your favorite charity:
add a fitted cardigan, a simple flat or pump, and simple jewelry.

Your child's HOLIDAY PROGRAM:
add a fitted denim jacket, a brown knee boot (yes, brown boots with black dress, that's not a misprint) and chunky jewelry.

And there you have it!

But, now that you've worn the heck out of this dress and you're T-I-R-E-D of it, if you find yourself with some extra cash to drop on a few holiday extras, here's what we recommend:
  • a shimmery tank - can be metallic, sequined, or satinhttp://dyn-images.hsni.com/is/image/HomeShoppingNetwork/pd300/slinky-brand-gold-shimmer-basic-tank~102421_A8E.jpg(This one is from HSN and only $29.90)
  • winter white anything - more elegant & unexpected than black Laredo - 68016 (Winter White) - Footwear(I actually have a pair of white cowboy boots - I know you'll be lining up to borrow them!)
  • a faux fur wrap or shrunken jacket (This one's from Marks & Spencer, in the UK, I'm afraid, but hey - it's a good faux!)
  • doubled-up cuffs - pile on the jewelry to glam up a look
  • either long dangly earrings or a huge bib necklace (These earrings are one of my ALL-TIME favorites - teardrop corals are sooo pretty.)
  • a medium-toned red lipstick with a nude eye (mascara + nude eyebase)    (Carmen at Private Edition in Nashville can help you get this look - book a wardrobe appt with Tina + Rebecca and you'll get 20% off all make-up!)
Tina + Rebecca have always championed the creed of "chic-simple dressing sprinkled with pops of fun here and there."  Fashion just isn't that important, is it?  But it can be SO much fun, especially during the holiday season when you can sparkle and shine in your favorite sequin tank without feeling like you're in the circus.

And may you have a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!
All the best,
Tina + Rebecca
