• if you're going for a trendy flat boot look, like the Delman Darcy, $495, wear with pencil skirts or shirtdresses, i.e. tailored is better


this is a low heeled boot; this look works with flat boots, too (Balenciaga)


Here's a flat boot from Chado Ralph Rucci (in my beloved grey....sooooo pretty)


• if you like booties, look for ones that plunge to a v around the ankle, like the BCBG Castia, $295, to avoid cankles
the nice "v" prevents the dreaded cankle-look




• nothing is more appropriate for you Nashville gals than a Frye cowboy boot; buy a light brown or camel color to wear with everythang (jeans, cords, long skirts)
this is a look from Hermes...Frye is more accessible!




• have you heard of the strapulator? Bernardo has the patent- it's brilliant. It's a springy strap on the inside of the sole to keep backless shoes from making that clop-clopping sound when you walk. Try the Bernardo Spring in black, $128.




• the best all purpose shoe around? The Stuart Weitzman patent leather tortoise pump, Court, $275. It's a black and brown, year-round go everywhere mid-heel.
